Companion Planting with Watermelon

Companion Planting with Watermelon...

Watermelon

I don't always do a post with a giveaway but sometimes I want to remember the companions of these crops and this week was one of those weeks! I have NEVER liked watermelon UNTIL I dehydrated it and now it is one of those crops I will for sure have in my garden each year! Just hope I can manage to grow some! Wish me luck! If you have suggestions on growing watermelon or pictures, feel free to post in the comments to this post! One thing I have read about them is that they need room to spread out in all directions so make sure you plot your garden accordingly!

I thought for sure when I looked up companion plants for watermelon that there wouldn't be any. I hadn't ever heard of there being a good companion. Well, I have proven myself wrong and hopefully this is something you learn today as well!

Watermelon's Companion Plants are...
* Marigolds and nasturtiums due to they deter the cucumber beetle
*Lamb's Quarter improves the vigor of watermelon
*Oregano helps in pest protection

Health Benefits of Watermelon:
Watermelons are mostly water — about 92 percent — but this refreshing fruit is soaked with nutrients. Each juicy bite has significant levels of vitamins A, B6 and C, lots of lycopene, antioxidants and amino acids. There's even a modest amount of potassium!
